Workshop on Safety enablers and SSP Implementation Programme

From 26 February to 1 March, the EU-Japan Aviation Partnership Project (APP) organised a workshop on the subject of safety enablers and State Safety Plan (SSP) implementation programme. Experts from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) convened in Tokyo to exchange on key safety management principles including risk assessment, safety performance measurement and monitoring, safety culture and the SSP, and how these principles are applied in the context of the European and Japanese aviation industries.

The workshop contained presentations on the programmes and approaches in both Europe and Japan, and practical cases of a safety culture implementation project, safety culture measurement, an SSP and a State Action Plan of a European country. In conclusion, participants expressed this event had provided valuable information and lessons from the presented safety management approaches. Due to the high interest in this topic, EASA and JCAB agreed to continue deepening the discussion in the future, which will be supported by the EU-Japan APP framework.
